According to the website the plantation is open every day except Thanksgiving and Christmas.

I would give it two hours, we enjoyed walking the grounds as much as the house tour.

Yes, dogs on a leash are allowed on the grounds!

I don't believe you need to worry about fees as they are for tours of the house.
