Great way to see the aqueduct and not only learn about the history but also how people currently live on the canal. It was only 10 pounds and I didn't even have to book a 45 min trip on the Little St… Full review by Monika G

Read your review and found it very interesting. Me and my family will be going on a narrowboat canal trip during the first week of July 2015 for the first time. We will be aboard a 70 foot long narrowboat and will be starting our trip in Wednesday afternoon and back to Trevor base on Sunday early morning (so it's 4 nights). Do you think that if I start from Trevor towards the end of Llangollen and than back to Trevor and onwards to Ellesmere and back to base is doable for a first-timer. Or will it be more safe to go from Trevor to Ellesmere and back to base? I'm thinking of doing about 4 to 5 hours boating every day (1st day: 3 hrs; 2nd day: 5 hrs; 3rd day: 5 hrs; 4th day: 4 hrs; Last day: 1 hour). We would like to do a bit of sight seeing in Chirk and Ellesmere. What is your opinion and are there any other places we should stop at for a few hours sightseeing or walk?

Hi there. I think you sent me a message last year which I answered on a similar point. I only did a short day trip if you remember so can't really comment on long journeys over a few days. Martin seems to have given you a good answer and seems experienced on the canal. I can agree with him on visiting Chirk Castle and also the Mere in Ellesmere. I hope you get your trip organised and have a wonderful time. Remember the British summertime weather - not like Malta.
