The Park Service’s free bus, sponsored by LL Beane (heartfelt thank you!) sort of operates like a HOHO bus - you can get off at various stops, do a bit of hiking then hop back on to go to the next sp…Full review by luv2ride

Great views and super convenient. I was a solo visitor. Using the busses allowed me to park my car at the Visitors Center and get around the park without having to worry about traffic or parking at…Full review by sheephurder
My wife are headed to Acadia this week and are interested in hiking up Cadillac mountain south trail and then back down the north trail (or vice versa.) We have a car but of course, we want to use the bus to get from the end of our hike back to our car. The map is hard to interpret. Has anyone ever done that and which bus routes did you take?
Did they shut this down because of COVID? We don’t have a car here and aren’t sure the best way to get to the park now. We are staying on a boat in south west harbor.

Yes, the service is not operating due to the pandemic. I suggest you contact chambers of commerce to explore private options for accessing Acadia National Park.
We are coming in by cruise ship to Bar Harbor on Sept 29th and want to take the Acadia free island explorer. I remember it was great several years ago! We don't know which one to take route #3 or route#10. we mostly wish to see lovely scenery, maybe get out and return on the bus if we have time. Is the total journey one hour? We might just stay on board. :) Thanks!

I know all that, but I need an answer to my question, thanks.
