Poorly signposted and in the middle of nowhere. No information in English. The monument itself was a ridiculous shape and people had spoilt it by putting stickers on the structure. Very underwhelming…Full review by Nicola_W_0108

What a fun place to take a photo. However expect a good walk from the nearest public transport which in the summer is exposed with little shade. It takes about 15 minutes to walk From the nearest bus…Full review by shortcyclist

Nice monument, but it is NOT at the tri-border point, which is in the middle of the river. The monument is entirely in Switzerland. If you want to stand in 3 countries at once, you'll have to do it i…Full review by GreenCajun
I can't work out from Google streetview whether we have to walk along the road adjacent to the river (with big lorries in by the looks of it) or whether there is a footpath at a lower level right next to the boats that we can walk along instead. Please could anyone who has been there clarify this. Thank you.

We were there in June this year. There is indeed a footpath which is right next to the boats. However, I’d just like to add that it’s not a very pleasant walk either way. Hope this helps :)

It is part of the port and freely open to everyone. It is a long walk to get there, though. It's a busy port with trains, trucks and cars coming and going. From the bridge road walk down to the river side and follow it away from Basel center and you will get there.
Hi: We are going to visit this 3 country landmark in July. Afterwards, we would like to go to the closest city in France and have a nice glass of french wine and either dinner or lunch. Any suggestions? We would like it to be close to the landmark because ultimately we are headed to Munich which is in the opposite direction. Thanks for the help in advance.

The Dreiländereck, 3 country landmark is by the Rhine River Basel port, you will need to take tram # 8 outside of the Basel SBB station, about 35 min ride plus 10-15 min. walk to it. If you would like to visit France side after visit Dreiländereck, you will need to go back to Basel SBB station, which is another 50 min. journey back. The closest French city that is reachable from SBB train station for wine would be Saint. Louis. Train schedules are frequent. France side of the train platform is located inside of the SBB station. Once in the station you then follow the signs and walk to the SNCF FRANCE gate entrance, You will take French train "TE2" train to Saint-Louis (Haut-Rhin) from platform 31(current departing platform, but please confirm with ticket window again in July). Each journey takes 10 min. non stop. You can either buy ticket from the windows or from the machine opposite from the ticket windows in the main hall. If you not too sure how to use the ticket machine, staff at the Basel SBB ticket window speak English well. If you have more time then Colmar is a better choice in my opinion and it only 40 min. on TE2 train ride; it is a very popular city in the French side that is close to Basel too. You can visit SBB website and type in train search from Basel Bahnhof to Colmar. Here is an example: Take TE2 Train Direction to Strasbourg Ville, on TE2 96224 from Basel SBB --> Saint-Louis (Haut-Rhin)->Mulhouse Ville-->Colmar. If you drive the journey is about the same. There is a car traffic bridge crossing Rhrine near the dreiländereck that leading to France side. I have written a review on Basel Main Station, you will see station's pictures I posted.
