Very nice museum that chronicles the history of Michigan from early Indian settlers to the 20th century. Docent Ross provided us with a lot of information. Full review by Joe W

A great deal of the exhibits are reproductions. The staff was more interested in their cell phones. Too bad as there is so much that could be improved here. Full review by greg l
I have two questions, 1) is there anywhere to eat inside the museum? thinking about a day trip here and would rather not have to go back and forth between the museum and food (plus I'm sure like any museum we're not allowed to bring food in from outside) 2) does the museum have exhibits or areas discussing the state government system and its history? I'm planning to attend to learn more for a project and I'd hate to spend time looking for a topic that is not discussed or available in the museum thank you!

These are great questions! There is a large seating area that LOOKS like a restaurant; it has tables and chairs, but vending machines only, no food service. So be prepared. As for the history of state government, the answer is no, not at MHC. But expand your visit to the Hall of Justice across the street (big building with the dome, facing the Capitol). It has an education center within! Please be careful crossing Allegan Street, which is one-way. Cross only at the flashing traffic signal at Allegan and Butler Streets. Use the signals to assist you.
