Take-Two Interactive, publisher of the blockbuster franchise Grand Theft Auto, sold its indie label Private Division for an undisclosed price to an unnamed

The former staffers of the independent video-game publisher Annapurna Interactive, who resigned abruptly last summer following an acrimonious power struggle, will be taking over the portfolio of a past rival, which will be laying off some of its employees.

Last year saw the entire Annapurna Interactive workforce resign following a dispute with owner Megan Ellison. Four months on, Bloomberg has reported that the former staff members have formed a new company and have picked up the entire Private Division portfolio (thanks, GamesIndustry.biz ).

Take-Two Interactive said in November 2024 that it had sold Private Division, the "high-end indie" publishing label it launched in 2017, to an undisclosed buyer, along with "substantially all of Private Division’s live and unreleased titles.

Annapurna Interactive’s entire team walked last year following a dispute with owner Megan Ellison. Meanwhile, Take-Two sold its indie publishing label to an unnamed buyer, which according to Bloomberg, is Texas-based private equity firm Haveli Investments.
