DeSilva had been threatening himself with a knife outside the downtown Spring Condominiums on July 31, 2019, when police were called. When officers arrived, they saw that DeSilva was on a communal floor of the Spring Condominiums with the knife still to his neck.

Both the state and the defense rested their cases in the deadly conduct trial for Austin Police Officer Christopher Taylor on Tuesday. Taylor is on trial for the 2019 shooting death of Mauris DeSilva in Downtown Austin.

Both sides will present their closing arguments Wednesday before the jury begins its deliberations on Christopher Taylor's deadly conduct charge.
