Daniel Penny has reportedly landed a role in venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz a little less than two months after he was acquitted of criminally negligent homicide pertaining to the chokehold death of 30-year-old homeless man Jordan Neely in 2023.

Mr. Penny, who was acquitted after choking a mentally ill subway passenger to death, will work for Andreessen Horowitz. Before the killing, he had been an architecture student.

Venture capital giant Andreessen Horowitz has hired Daniel Penny, a Marine veteran who became a national figure after he used a chokehold on an agitated subway rider.

Some have warned that New Yorkers may be more hesitant to act, out of fear that they’ll end up in court. Others worry Penny’s acquittal will embolden people to take matters into their own hands.
