As National Guard troops patrol the streets of Washington, D.C., President Trump has threatened to send soldiers to other cities across the country to help stop crime, but can they perform law enforcement duties?

An Advisory Neighborhood Commission in Anacostia accepted the Guard’s offer to help with a cleanup Saturday, as leaders seek to build trust with residents.

Five hundred National Guard soldiers from the Texas Military Department have arrived on Saturday, Sept. 13 in El Paso to support the border mission, according to a social media post from El Paso Border Patrol Sector Chief Walter Slosar.
