Verizon services are beginning to be restored after reportedly down across the country on Monday, Sept. 30, according to the wireless carrier. On its official X account, Verizon said it was working around the clock to fix the issue.

Verizon confirmed an outage on its X social media account just before 9 a.m. It wasn’t until 2 p.m. that it announced it was making progress in addressing in the issue and said some service was being restored. The issue affected voice, data and text services.

Verizon users are in the midst of a major disruption, as a massive nationwide outage has left millions disconnected. Whether you're working remotely, attending virtual classes, or just trying to get through Monday with a functioning phone, Verizon's widespread network failure has thrown a wrench in the day for many.

Many customers’ phones were in “SOS” mode, meaning they could still text or call 911, but could not otherwise use their Verizon phones, according to the San Luis Obispo County Office of Emergency Services. The phone carrier was getting hundreds of thousands of reports from users nationwide, according to Downdetector.

The still unexplained Verizon outage affected more than 100,000 users, according to Downdetector, a website that tracks tech outages.
