Sun Pharma’s acquisition of Checkpoint Therapeutics includes Unloxcyt, an FDA-approved anti-PD-L1 therapy for metastatic and locally advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma.

Sun Pharma has made its play just three months after Checkpoint won FDA approval for PD-L1 inhibitor Unloxcyt (cosibelimab) for the treatment of adults with metastatic cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC) or locally advanced cSCC who are not candidates for curative surgery or radiotherapy.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries has entered into a definitive agreement to acquire Checkpoint Therapeutics, Inc., a Nasdaq-listed immunotherapy and targeted oncology company, for an upfront cash payment of $355 million.

Sun Pharmaceutical Industries on Monday said it will acquire immunotherapy and targeted oncology firm, Inc for up to USD 355 million.   As per the pact inked by the companies, Sun Pharma will pay upfront USD 4.

Sun Pharma will acquire Checkpoint Therapeutics for $355 million, expected to close by Q2 2025. The deal strengthens Sun Pharma’s oncology portfolio with FDA-approved UNLOXCYT for advanced cutaneous squamous cell carcinoma (cSCC).
