The SportsLine Projection Model has revealed its Purdue Boilermakers vs. USC Trojans matchup Saturday on CBS and Paramount+

The Boilermakers were scheduled to honor the 25th anniversary of their Rose Bowl team as they opened Big Ten play. Those plans have been delayed.

USC is 2-0 against the spread to start the season and has covered the spread with ease, including a 35.5 line in Week 1. Purdue is 1-1 ATS and about to face the Big Ten's most potent offense, which is averaging 676 yards per game. The SportsLine model projects the Trojans will cover the spread in 65% of simulations.

You can see if you add up those numbers that now a full 83% of respondents believe that Purdue will finish with 4 or more wins. That’s a 12% increase from where you all were over the summer. Seems like maybe there’s a teensy bit of optimism creeping into the fanbase.

Multiple Purdue players have been ruled out for Saturday's Big Ten opener against USC. A key defensive back has also been listed as questionable.

Of course, a good number of those losses came in South Bend, Indiana against Notre Dame, where USC has dropped six straight road games in the rivalry dating back to 2013. In addition, the Trojans went 0-3 in Big Ten road games outside of the West Coast last year, with losses to Michigan, Minnesota, and Maryland.
