Fifa have announced they will launch a Women's Club World Cup competition in 2028, as well as a Women's Champions Cup in 2026.

The first Women’s Club World Cup has been moved from 2026 to 2028 and FIFA has confirmed a new annual tournament, the Champions Cup.

It has been 25 years since the first incarnation of the competition began, as Brazilian side Corinthians became the inaugural winners of what was then called the FIFA Club World Championship. Since then, Real Madrid have set the bar, lifting the trophy five times, while four English clubs have been victorious in the competition.

The FIFA Club World Cup is planning a significant overhaul in 2025, including a 32-team competition and a never-before-seen $1 billion prize fund. Originally scheduled for 2021, the competition was postponed due to the coronavirus disease crisis.
