A federal prosecutor assigned to the corruption case against New York City Mayor Eric Adams resigned Friday in a blistering letter that accused top leaders at the Justice Department of looking for a “fool” to dismiss the criminal charges.

"I expect you will eventually find someone who is enough of a fool, or enough of a coward, to file your motion. But it was never going to be me."

On Monday, the acting deputy attorney general, Emil Bove, issued a memo to prosecutors at Manhattan ordering that they dismiss the corruption case.

Another prosecutor in New York on the Eric Adams corruption case quit Friday in a scathing letter addressed to the Trump administration after the No. 2 acting Justice Department official earlier this week ordered charges against the mayor be dropped.

Sassoon said federal prosecutors planned to charge Adams with destroying evidence and instructing others to do so, which would have added to his case.
