BMW has announced that production of the 2026 BMW iX will start soon with three new variants. Here's everything you need to know about the all-electric models.

The 2026 BMW iX marks the first major update since the electric midsize SUV debuted for the 2022 model year, bringing power and efficiency upgrades as well as refreshed styling and a new base model.

On top of reducing the price more than $10,000, BMW redesigned the beak and reworked the drivetrain to eke out roughly 15 extra miles per charge.

BMW has unveiled the 2026 iX, the upgraded version of its electric SUV. The revamped model, which has been in production for four years, now comes with a more affordable variant for the US market. Previously exclusive to Europe as the base xDrive40, the cost-effective trim has been rebranded as the xDrive45 for American consumers.

The 2026 BMW iX xDrive60 (previously the xDrive50) now makes 536 hp and 564 lb-ft of torque, with the M70 xDrive cranking output up to 650 hp and 811 lb-ft of torque.

All 2026 BMW iX models receive a new, higher-efficiency heat pump system that allows waste heat from the powertrain to be used to warm the passenger cabin. This same system can also warm the iX’s battery pack and drive system in an effort to increase range.
