For the 23rd time in the Beanpot’s 72-year history, the cherished college-hockey tournament will be decided in a championship bout between No. 1 Boston College and No. 8 Boston University.

Boston College and Boston University have not met in the Beanpot Final since 2016. But on Monday night at the Garden, the two Commonwealth Avenue archrivals decided to do something about that.

The 2025 Beanpot features a matchup between two great goaltenders. Jacob Fowler has been a brick wall for Boston College this season, leading Hockey East in wins, shutouts and save percentage.

The last time BU beat BC in the Beanpot final was 2007, which was also a 2-1 overtime thriller. In 297 meetings overall, Boston University leads the all-time series against Boston College, 140-136-21.

BU took BC’s early roundhouse punch and leaned on goalie Mikhail Yegorov to stun the top-ranked Eagles, 4-1, in the Beanpot championship on Monday.
