The dead body that fishermen caught off the Bay State coast was reportedly a woman who had cancer and was buried at sea, according to investigators. Massachusetts State Police assigned to Suffolk DA Kevin Hayden’s office, along with the U.S. Coast Guard, responded last week to a fishing vessel in Boston that reported pulling in a body in its nets.

Authorities said that the deceased person, a woman, is unlikely to be identified and found there were "no indications of foul play."

The fishing vessel said the body came up in the fishing nets around 40 miles off of the Massachusetts coast, the DA said. The body “was wrapped and in a state of decomposition,” the DA’s office said, which is with the Office of the Chief Medical Examiner for an autopsy.
