Girl Scout Cookies have been a part of the scouting program for decades. While the tradition started in the early 1900s as a bake sale to raise funds for a troop, the idea quickly caught on, with the organization eventually standardizing the production of these treats.

This week in Springfield restaurant news, a Thai restaurant opens a new spot and Girl Scout cookie booths are now open. Everyday Thai, a sit-down Thai restaurant on Battlefield Road, has opened a new venture across from Mercy hospital. Hot Bowl by Everyday Thai, 1301 E. Sunshine St., is open from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Saturday.
