The GOP-controlled House approved a resolution Friday that would overturn a new Biden administration rule on automobile emissions that Republicans say would force Americans to buy unaffordable electric vehicles they don’t want.

The Congressional Review Act resolution, H.J. Res. 136, from Michigan Republican Rep. John James, would roll back EPA’s rule for cars and small trucks that Republicans have labeled a “de-facto electric vehicle mandate.” The resolution passed 215-191.

In March, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) issued a rule on the sale of electronic vehicles, or EVs, that officials called the most ambitious plan ever to cut global-warming emissions from cars.

The Congressional Review Act resolution attacks what Republicans often refer to as the administration's "EV mandate."
