The rescue team was able to pull both victims from the ice before transporting them with an ice-rescue sled. The victims, a man and a woman, were conscious and alert when first responders arrived.
If the ice breaks underneath the sled, the rescuer can continue to glide on the water. Upon reaching a victim, the rescuer puts a harness, which is attached to the sled, around the victim's torso.
