The starting price for one bag is $400, which Bainbridge acknowledges is fairly steep, but not too far off from what you might expect to pay for a good-quality leather bag.

The maker of Birkin and Kelly bags will be releasing a bag made using a leather-like material derived from mushrooms. The lab-grown material, called Sylvania, is made by California start-up MycoWorks.
