As seen in LOTR: The Rings of Power, Valinor is directly west of Tolkien's Middle-earth world. Here's what's on the eastern side of the map.
Middle-earth may be land-locked on the north, south, and east. But its western border is one continual run of coastland. This expansive body of water is called Belegaer or the Sundering Seas.
And it’s no surprise that The Rings of Power honors Tolkien’s achievement in rendering Middle-earth in map form, both as a stylish technique and as a way of building stakes around the plot.
In fact, Tolkien was so pleased with Baynes’ work on the Middle-Earth map that he later introduced her to Lewis, and she went on to illustrate the Narnia books as well. Close.
