The Okaloosa County EOC took on a new name Thursday in honor of the former sheriff who’s tenure contributed to advancements in public safety.

The center was renamed to the "Sheriff Larry Gilbert Emergency Operation Center". Sheriff Gilbert was elected as Okaloosa County sheriff in 1980 and served 16 years in the post.
