The Paleozoic era's Silurian period saw animals and plants finally emerge on land. But first there was a period of biological regrouping following the disastrous climax to the Ordovician.

As mentioned by TheGodskin's post on Reddit, the Crucible Knights Ordovis, Siluria, and Devonia are named after the Ordovician, Silurian, Devonian periods of the Paleozoic era respectively.

The Devonian, part of the Paleozoic era, is otherwise known as ... a group that first appeared during the Silurian with powerful jaws lined with bladelike plates that acted as teeth.
