The Forest Service said in a news release that the Custer County Sheriff’s Office led an evacuation of Redfish Lake Inlet Campground, a four-site campground at the southwest edge of the lake.

This is commonly done as a day hike from the Redfish Lake Inlet Campground. From the campground, it’s a 10-mile out-and-back hike. Hikers gain a bit more than 2,000 feet.
