The liberal-majority Wisconsin Supreme Court ruled not to hear a challenge from Democrats who sought to toss out the state’s congressional district boundaries before the 2026 midterm elections. Democrats had been hoping for the maps to be redrawn so they could be more competitive in the battleground state’s U.

It's a setback for Democrats who had hoped for new, friendlier district boundary lines in the state as they attempt to win back control of the House next year.

In an era of narrow majorities, the fight for control of the House is increasingly waged in the courts. Both parties are engaged with lawsuits targeting congressional maps across the country, since the opportunity to pick up even one or two seats through redistricting could hand them the House majority.
