The Supreme Court agreed Monday to take up a case initially filed by then-Senate candidate JD Vance and other Republicans seeking to lift the cap on how much political parties may spend in coordination with candidates.

The U.S. Supreme Court agreed on Monday to hear a Republican-led challenge on free speech grounds to a provision of federal campaign finance law that limits spending by political parties in coordination with candidates running for office in a case involving Vice President JD Vance.

The Republican-backed First Amendment appeal continues a trend for the new term that starts in October. The Supreme Court just wrapped another term in which the Republican-appointed majority sided with conservatives in First Amendment appeals.
