Governor Jeff Landry announced Monday (Jan. 13) plans to open a transitional center to house members of the homeless population in New Orleans as the city prepares for the influx of visitors during Super Bowl LIX and Mardi Gras.

Notices were being posted at encampments on Monday, warning that failure to relocate to the new shelter “may result in enforcement action or legal proceedings.”
