Lake Central senior right-hander Joshua Flores was selected by the Milwaukee Brewers in the fourth round of the 2025 MLB draft on Monday. Flores, a Kentucky recruit who went 7-0 with a 2.76 ERA and 70 strikeouts in 38 innings this past season, was the 125th overall pick.
LSU baseball second baseman Daniel Dickinson has been taken No. 185 overall by the Milwaukee Brewers in the sixth round of the 2025 MLB Draft. Dickinson is the second positional player selected from the Tigers in this year's draft after Ethan Frey was drafted as an outfielder by the Houston Astros in the third round.
For the fourth time in modern history, the Owens Express baseball team had a former player taken in the Major League Baseball Draft. Hunter Allen, who played at Owens in 2022 and 2023, was taken by the Baltimore Orioles with the 214th overall pick on Monday.
The Milwaukee Brewers landed one of the first surprise picks of Day 1 of the MLB draft by taking high-school lefty Frank Cairone at No. 68 overall. Cairone was not listed on MLB Pipeline's top 250 draft prospects, though he just snuck onto Baseball America's top 200. Prep Baseball Report had Cairone as the No. 8 prep left-hander in the draft.
