Charlie Kirk's organization Turning Point USA confirmed in an internal email sent to staff that Kirk has died following a shooting at a rally at UVU earlier today, and they stated that they will be closed until at least next Monday.

Charlie Kirk, the CEO and co-founder of the conservative youth organization Turning Point USA, was shot and killed Wednesday at an event at a Utah college, Turning Point said.

Kirk was a driving force behind the modern conservative movement on college campuses. Utah’s governor called his death “a political assassination.”

The shooting comes amid a spike in attacks on political figures in the United States across all parts of the ideological spectrum.
