The forecast calls for a 20% to 30% chance of snow starting after noon, with the chance increasing up to midnight, the National Weather Service in Wichita said Wednesday.

But before you toss in that snow shovel in despair, here’s what the National Weather Service in Kansas City says. “You may have heard there is more snow potential Thursday night and Friday,” the weather service said in a post on Facebook.

Snow blanketed much of Kansas over the weekend, closing many schools, businesses and government offices on Monday. But how much fell? Wichita recorded 3.6 inches of snow at the Dwight D. Eisenhower National Airport, according to data from the National Weather Service Monday. The forecast had called for 2 to 6 inches.
