Zoe Ball has recently opened up that she relies on listening to "green noise" after struggling to sleep following an absence from her BBC Radio 2 breakfast show.

Vernon Kay was taken off air on doctor's orders on Tuesday, a day after his colleague Zoe Ball returned to BBC Radio 2 following an unexpected six-week break. The DJ, who hosts the show after Ball from 9:30am until midday, was replaced by Gaby Roslin on Tuesday after developing a severe sore throat.

Ball had not presented the programme since she briefly returned to the show on 8 August.
