The Pittsburgh Penguins may be without a key forward. Head coach Mike Sullivan said Bryan Rust is day-to-day with a lower-body injury, team play-by-play announcer Jeff Getzoff reported Friday.

BOTTOM LINE: The Seattle Kraken and the Pittsburgh Penguins take the ice in a non-conference matchup. Seattle is 21-25-3 overall and 11-11-3 at home. The Kraken have a -13 scoring differential, with 142 total goals scored and 155 allowed.

The mark of inconsistency doomed the Pittsburgh Penguins yet again in their 4-1 loss to the Seattle Kraken on Saturday. And, despite controlling large portions of play yet again, their defense let them down.

Boko Imama was one of the bright spots for Pittsburgh on Saturday in Seattle (full recap here). With Bryan Rust day-to-day with a lower-body injury, the team called up the 28-year-old forward to make sure they had enough players to field a lineup.

The Penguins suffered their third straight loss on Tuesday, January 14th, falling 4-2 to the Seattle Kraken at PPG Paints Arena. Despite a strong effort throughout the game, the Penguins were unable to overcome the Kraken’s potent offense and ultimately fell short in their bid to break the losing streak.

The game at Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle begins at 1 p.m. PT. It will be broadcast on KONG. KONG is available for streaming through DirecTV Stream and Fubo, as well as via antenna, cable, and satellite. The game will also be broadcast on the Kraken Hockey Network. Pregame coverage begins at 12:30 p.m.

With the NHL trade deadline six weeks away, it would appear the Pittsburgh Penguins and Seattle Kraken are in a similar circumstance.
