Netflix and Adam Sandler gave fans a holiday surprise, dropping the first teaser for 'Happy Gilmore 2' early on Christmas Day

Adam Sandler stars as Happy Gilmore, the hockey player reinvented as a goofy golf star, in the first special teaser released by Netflix on Wednesday.

“Happy Gilmore 2,” directed by Kyle Newacheck (”Workaholics”) and written by Sandler with Tim Herlihy (”The Wedding Singer,” “Happy Gilmore”), will be released in the summer of 2025 on Netflix. Buzz is a daily roundup of entertainment news about movies, TV, music and celebrities.

Adam Sandler's $250 million deal with Netflix is the gift that keeps on gifting. Aptly, for this Christmas Day and the start of Hanukkah, the streamer has released the first teaser for "Happy Gilmore 2," the hotly awaited sequel to the 1996 sports comedy.

Kyle Newacheck, who directed Sandler and Jennifer Aniston in Netflix’s “Murder Mystery,” is helming “Happy Gilmore 2.” The sequel is co-written by Tim Herlihy from the original movie. Dennis Dugan, the first film’s director, will executive produce, with Jack Giarraputo and Robert Simonds producing.
