Multiple users reported issues with OpenAI on Thursday morning, according to Downdetector. By 6:45 a.m. more than 4,000 people reported issues with the service to Downdetector, more than 90% of which indicated problems with ChatGPT.

ChatGPT, the massively popular conversational chatbot, was down for a short time before the issue was resolved, according to an OpenAI status update.

GenAI chatbot ChatGPT is currently down globally, leaving users who have grown accustomed to quick fixes from the chatbot in a frenzy.

While outages and disruption in services are common for internet services, ChatGPT has experienced downtimes frequently over the last few weeks. In December, ChatGPT was hit by a massive outage in the US, resulting in glitches in additional OpenAI services, as well.

SINGAPORE: Thousands of users worldwide reported issues with OpenAI's artificial intelligence chatbot ChatGPT on Thursday (Jan 23). Outage tracking site Downdetector.com received over 550 OpenAI outage reports from users in Singapore at around 7.

ChatGPT launched in the fall of 2022 and quickly became the fastest-growing consumer software. The base version is free, but some users pay as much as $200 a month for the service. Around 300 million people use OpenAI's chatbot every week, and the chatbot handles more than 1 billion messages a day.

OpenAI's ChatGPT experienced a global outage, leaving millions of users unable to access the AI chatbot. The outage, which began around 5 PM IST, affected both the web and app versions of ChatGPT. OpenAI acknowledged the issue and is investigating the cause.

Downdetector, a website that tracks online service disruptions, has registered a significant spike in outage reports for ChatGPT within the last hour. The cause of the outage is currently unknown. OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has yet to release an official statement addressing the issue.
