Bethune-Cookman University has opened a food bank, Mother Mary's Market, for students, faculty and staff in a building on the Daytona Beach campus.

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. - A new food pantry has opened its doors to students, faculty and staff of Bethune-Cookman University (BCU). The university teamed up with Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida to open Mother Mary's Market on Monday,

BCU has collaborated with The Second Harvest Food Bank of Central Florida, Boeing and Pepsi for the grand opening of Mary’s Market food pantry on campus. Mary’s Market food pantry received its first food shipment on Monday, marking the day students could open the doors and celebrate the exciting new collaboration.

Second Harvest Food Bank is opening up another Mother Mary's Market in Volusia County on Tuesday. The new campus food pantry, opening at Bethune-Cookman University, is working to target food insecurity. Second Harvest says one in eight people in Central Florida are struggling with hunger.
