ZooMontana is taking precautions to prevent its animals from catching the bird flu from other species. More than 650 students and staff are out sick in one North Texas district, forcing multiple schools to close.

HPAI, commonly known as bird flu, is a highly contagious respiratory disease that causes sickness and sometimes death in birds and mammals.
