Madras high court was hearing a habeas corpus plea of a retired professor alleging ‘detention’ of his two daughters by Isha Foundation's Yoga Centre.

Chennai/IBNS: The Madras High Court has questioned spiritual leader Sadhguru's intent behind encouraging others' daughters to live lives of hermitness when he got his own daughter married, media reports said.

The Madras High Court recently asked why Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev is “encouraging the daughters of others to tonsure their heads and live the life of a hermit”. The statement has left social media divided.

The Madras High Court questioned Isha Foundation founder Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudev for advising young women to adopt hermit lifestyles, especially when he married off his daughter. A retired professor accused Sadhguru of influencing his daughters to stay at the Isha Yoga Centre.

The Madras High Court has raised a question to spiritual leader Jaggi Vasudev aka Sadhguru, founder of the Isha Foundation, regarding the lifestyle choices promoted by his organisation. The court questioned why, after marrying off his own daughter, Sadhguru encourages young women to live as hermits at the Isha Yoga Centre.

Isha Foundation, led by Sadhguru Jaggi Vasudeva, clarified it does not pressure individuals into marriage or monkhood, emphasizing personal choice. This follows a Madras High Court case where a father accused the organization of brainwashing his daughters into staying at the Isha Yoga Centre.

The Madras High Court on Monday also directed the police in Tamil Nadu's Coimbatore to collect all case details registered against Sadhguru's Isha Foundation at Vellingiri foothills in Coimbatore district and produce them before it for further consideration.
