A 57-year-old man is facing ten charges, including attempted murder, after a 15-hour-long stand-off with police at a home in Queensland's Hervey Bay on Monday.

There will be room for 150 extra police officers in the Fraser Coast following a multimillion-dollar investment into upgrading the Hervey Bay Police Station.

A new fire and rescue station for Hervey Bay was first announced by former Emergency Services Minister Mark Ryan in February, 2022 with an expected construction start date of late 2023.
