The Communist Party of India-Marxist (CPI-M) has requested Tripura Chief Minister Manik Saha to shift an idol of Lord Ram installed in a public space where the statue of a communist leader once stood.

The installation of the idol coincided with the party's ongoing plans to build a new statue of Majumder, a former chief minister, to honour his legacy.
