So, of the available options, which ones do we want to see the most? There are 12 total options, six in each league among the eight teams that would find themselves in the Wild Card round if the season ended tomorrow. We've ranked all 12 below in order of just how compelling we find them, both on the field and off.
On the AL side, the Guardians will have a chance to sweep their three-game set against the Tigers on Thursday. Cleveland still has a chance to win the AL Central, sitting 4 1/2 games behind Detroit, and it is similarly just 2 1/2 games back for the AL’s final wild-card spot.
Making a true postseason run is going to prove to be a challenge. Not only do the Guardians have to catch the Mariners or Astros, but they also need to surpass the Rangers. With multiple ball clubs competing for one Wild Card spot, Cleveland will need to play its best possible baseball down the stretch.
