The sentencing for the man found guilty in the murder of Melody Hoffman is being delayed two weeks.A jury found McKinley Louisma guilty of first-degree murder l. advertisement.

It comes after the body of 20-year-old Melody Hoffman was found near Amana’s Lily Lake in February. McKinley Louisma, 23, of Hiawatha, is also charged in this case.

The jury found Louisma guilty of first-degree murder, first-degree kidnapping and conspiracy to commit a forcible felony in the kidnapping and fatal strangulation of Melody Hoffman on Feb. 17, 2024.

Louisma spoke to investigators two separate times the day after Hoffman was killed. In the second interview, they talked about where both he and Hoffman were that night.
