“Thanks to some great early-season snowfall and the resort’s snow-harvesting efforts, Mt. Hood Meadows Resort has announced it will kick off the 2024-25 season this week,” the ski resort stated.
Skiing on Mount Hood dates back to 1907 but summer skiing started in the mid 1950s. It started with Tucker Sno-Cats transporting skiers to the Palmer snowfield, at about 8,000 feet.
Mt. Hood Skibowl also saw about three feet of new snow in two days and they plan to open up for night skiing on Thursday. Skier Wilson Brown said the fresh snow was much needed to open the resorts.
