NAS Pensacola installs first woman as commanding officer in historic moment
PENSACOLA, Fla. -- History was made onboard Naval Air Station Pensacola on Friday. Capt. Chandra "Mamasan" Newman was installed as the new commander of the base. Newman is the 60th commanding officer of the base and the first woman to take on that role. She replaces Capt. Terrence "Village" Shashaty, who retired from the Navy.
