Namibian president elect Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, of the ruling SWAPO Party, at a news conference in Windhoek, Namibia, Thursday, Dec. 5, 2024 after the election results were made official.

Nandi, 68, who was an urban planner before arriving in the United States, had lived in East Meadow since 1973. Her home was on the south side of Hempstead Turnpike.
