Texas artist Michael Tracy died in 2024. The McNay Art Museum in San Antonio has staged a right-sized exhibit of his potent work.

As it happens, Tracy was right. The artist, who was known for dramatic multimedia works and for his campaign to preserve aging buildings in the border town of San Ygnacio, died in June 2024 at age 80.

Among Tracy’s 200 guests was Laredo-born, San Antonio-based artist Ethel Shipton. Invited on board as technical support, Shipton was tasked with helping the performers get into character.

The McNay Art Museum will also host a special event focusing on the life and work of Michael Tracy on April 3 from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m. For more information click here.
