Charlie Stramel scored a pair of goals to help the top-ranked Michigan State hockey team beat Michigan 4-1 on Saturday night and earn a series split. MSU’s Matt Basgall and Shane Vansaghi scored the other two Spartan goals.

No. 1 Michigan State (19-3-2, 10-2-2 Big Ten) navigated a penalty-ridden game to earn a 4-1 victory over No. 10 Michigan, earning a split in the series. The Spartans’ power play went 2-for-7, while the penalty kill allowed a goal on five chances while scoring a shorthanded goal of its own.
