With his troops and tanks closing in on Gaza City, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu vowed a swift victory over Hamas even as one of his top generals suggested the war could last at least another year.
After 18 months of agreeing only to partial, phased ceasefire deals, Netanyahu is now demanding a comprehensive agreement that would secure the release of all hostages and end the war entirely – on Israel’s terms.
The United Arab Emirates on Friday said it had summoned the deputy Israeli ambassador over Israel's attack on Hamas leaders in Qatar and Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's subsequent "hostile and unacceptable" remarks,
