Anora appears to be the front-runner to win the Oscar for best picture. On Friday (Feb. 7) the film won the top award at the Critics Choice Awards. On Saturday (Feb. 8) it won the top prizes at both the Directors Guild of America Awards and the Producers Guild of America Awards.

Did a wide-open Oscar race just get a frontrunner? Sean Baker’s Brooklyn comedy “Anora” took top honors at both the Producers Guild Awards and the Directors Guild Awards on Saturday night, catapulting it to Oscar favorite status with wins from a pair of closely watched Academy Awards precursors.

The Producers Guild of America named Anora the best picture of the year at the 2025 PGA Awards. The surprise win came just an hour after director Sean Baker took home the DGA’s top prize — establishing the Neon film as the official Oscars frontrunner for Best Picture.

Other PGA winners included The Wild Robot i n the animated film category, Saturday Night Live for live TV, and Super/Man: The Christopher Reeve Story took home the documentary award.
