BMW is introducing a new logo, the biggest redesign it’s had in over 100 years. The new design is a more modern and flatter look, with a transparent background that replaces the outer black ring.

Shown in the gallery above, the logo features the BMW roundel surrounded by white, red, violet, and blue accents — the colors closely associated with the M brand.

Everyone sees the blue-and-white roundel and already thinks "BMW." The symbol no longer needs the crutch of the letters, and, without them, the roundel is distilled down to its essence, and it works.
